![]() It renders out 16 960x960 images of the landscape that can be sticked together to create a single large one. Or if using the free version you’ll need the script i made for Rhysy 2, well if i remember right it was him i gave it too. (you can get terragen cough cough if you need it) To get high res textures you’ll need to have a copy of the full version of terragen. So start witha large landscape size in terragen. The more polys the better for terragen landscapes. and use the other method for the terrain (not as detailed but if you want it to be it can be just as detailed, it would just need to be made up of about 4 mesh’s subdivided to the max number of times. However my terrain was 500K polygons and will work 100% with terragen rendered sky (it makes a nice effect rendering the sky nol in terragen rather quick too, and then rendering the landscape in blender)īut if you want it to be 100% accurate to terragens heights etc… then my method is better thab even the ter2blend script.īut if you don’t want to spend 3-4 hours of your time mucking around (which is a good estiamte of how long it takes to do a single 500K polygon terrain including texture, and renderig in terragen as well as importing mesh and editing it later so its uaseable at a desent frame rate in blender)īut i would actually consider just rendering the texture in terragen and importing it into blender. Yep sonix is correct that that is another method that will work.Īnd you can still do the texture from terragen trick the same way as i have done. I don’t think i have any of that stuff anymore, because i have a new computer and don’t really use terragen (never installed it) I also gave him a script for terragen that will render out a large texture like 4000x4000 kind of size by animating the camera (this is for people using the free version) also i belive i told Rhyse2 (i don’t know if the speelings right) how to do it. Just od a search in the forums and it might be clear to you. Then to aplly the texture you will need to do tricky stuff, but i’ll tell you that later LOL. Then remove doubles of vertex’s and join mesh pieces into as larger pieces as you can, you may want to convert to quads also e.g the Ctrl+J i belive is the hotkey LOL, or decimate the mesh. ![]() Then import the DXF inot blender (takes about an hour on a 1Ghz P3 256Mb ram, i have never tried it on my PC which has 2.4Ghz and 1Gb of ram) Then render the image out without clouds or atmosphere distrtion etc… whatever sun position you like but for safteys sake have the sun vertical also. Make sure the landscape only just fits the screen. Then render an image from as far away as possible from the terrain in terragen making sure the camera in is the dead centre of the landscape and set it to about 0.1 DXF units when exporting. ![]() Then export it via the DXF export, make sure its set as single faces DXF rather than the other option. I have 1 or 2 posts in the python section,īasicly you need to set up a terrain in terragen at 512x512 (well my favorte) minimum. ![]() Just PM me if you need help because it is actually the first time i’ve entered this part of the forum for like a month or so LOL. (i think its the so pack)Īnyway i’m kinda busy right now but i’d be happy to help in a day or two (or if it can wait a week that would be cool) You will require the SOpack with DXF export i belive. i had one that posted a pretty indepth tut on it. There are actually about 3 or 4 threads each giving a bit more info. ![]()
